Since the beginning, Alpine Meadows has provided an authentic, unaltered winter resort lacking nothing but pretense. Even in 1959 when a group of investors drafted the first prospectus for Alpine Meadows, the vision of the pending winter resort was to provide unique terrain to focus on open bowls and tree runs versus cleared trails. "Alpine Meadows is a rare combination of high glacial valleys and cirques with a wide variety of open slopes and sparsely scattered clumps of fir, hemlock, and pine," the plan dryly described.
